Conducting basic research to discover innovative new drug candidate compounds

A new compound produced in drug discovery research undergoes through preclinical studies using various cells, experimental animals and animal models to expect the effects and adverse reactions in humans. This step is followed by human clinical trials to estimate medical efficacy and safety, which, if successful, indicate that the candidate has potential to give as a new drug. Regulatory authorities issue numerous guidelines and standards regarding these studies for clarifying drug safety, efficacy, and quality, all of which need be carried out in testing facilities that have been approved by the regulatory authorities.

Development of new drugs is perceived as a very difficult process, which can be described from many different points of view; science and business level behind a new drug launch do not necessary match. Therefore, general outlook of the contemporary pharmaceutical industry is, despite of its some spectacular successes, that of convinced dissatisfaction globally, more is spent on drug discovery and development every year and less is delivered, in terms of radical innovation, we would like to discuss this part of drug research and development and Clinical Trials at Drug Discovery Congress 2018.
